Netflix wants to become HBO before HBO can become Netflix. They have reached the first step, by making more subscription revenue than HBO. HBO, though, is still more profitable.

HBO revolutionized TV in the 80s by offering the kind of content that network TV wouldn’t: more sex, more violence.

Netflix is trying to leave its own footprint in original programming and has made quite an impression with House Of Cards.
