Google Play Music’s Internationalization Difficult

According to music industry insiders, some of the major music companies have declined Google the right to take their Google Play Music shop global, although Google is believed to have offered up to $1 Bn to get the international licensing rights.

It is believed that this conflict is not about money but about penalizing Google for linking to pirated music in its search results.

Google is of course interested in offering a full media store to go along with the upcoming Nexus Tablet to attack Amazon’s Kindle Fire and the Apple itunes universe.
